The good old
"Augustiner" the night before our
little adventure. Here is Marisa's account on what happened: |

"The Harleys are now in their new home after an eventful
6 day trip from Munich to Marbella. Across winding roads in Germany, Austria and
Switzerland through the Alps to Italy. The biker salutations accompanying
us all the way. From the fresh scenery of the Alps to the warmth of the
Italian lakes and car engines in the traffic jams…sometimes you wish you
were on a motorbike to gracefully drive by J.
Great food so far I must add. |

"And over the Alps again (these Alps are
everywhere!) into France. So this is how
it must feel to do the Tour the France.
Briançon, Gap and through to Rosans,
charming little village. We are about 800 Km
from Munich. |
"So far so good, but Marc's bike has decided to take a longer
rest at a closed petrol station in Rosans. It is Sunday early afternoon
and Monday is a holiday. We decide to take the safe option, have the
insurance take the bike to Marbella and continue our trip on my Harley and
in a rental car….Álvaro and Grandma are waiting at home and we still
are 1800 km from our destination. |
|
|
"In the meantime we have come to know Rosans well and the
Château-hotel and their owners, only to be
recommended (www.chateaurosans.com). |
|
|
|
"But the ride/drive must go on. Across France
partly on the motorway, partly through vineyards “guarded” by
fantastic rosebushes to the feet of the Pyrenees. Olette, the outcome of a
conversation Marc had back in Rosans with a Dutchman who drove him to Gap
to pick up the rental car, is where we shall rest. And look for the secret
hot baths….following the train tracks for 15 minutes. |

|
"Rather simple if your really follow the instructions, but we
had two goes at it and almost gave up ever finding them...
luckily in the end we did and could leave the
Pyrenees in peace. |

"Next stop Barcelona for an appointment and then
through to Peñiscola, beautiful medieval town 100 Km north of Valencia.
And the smell of the sea, I am on the bike now otherwise you hardly
perceive these stimuli, locked away in your air conditioned car.
Surrounded by fruit trees we make our way slowly inland. Long straight
roads with little or no traffic through the flat landscape, time to hit
the accelerator. I am listening to the radio, it´s an interview with the
80 year-old man that invented table football, and I drive up a gentle
slope into a pine forest, probably a pleasant smell in the air, but my air
conditioning is on. |

"And then the scenery changes again. Smooth hills combed
with olive trees and the strong scent of tyme in the hot, and getting
hotter, air. |
|
"We are in Andalucía (I guess you can feel the
proudness of the writer). A few hundred Kms to go.
We are tired but the roads are good so we will make it before dark.
|
|
|
"Past Lucena, yes there is a town in Córdoba with that
name, where the 35 degrees feel more like 45 as you stop at the traffic
light and the tarmac seems to melt under your feet. |
|
"Then comes Antequera, we are getting close. We know the
way well, avoiding Málaga centre and onto the Motorway
to Marbella and
finally to Nueva Andalucía. It is 21:00. My mum is waiting for us and Álvaro
with her. He recognises his
dad under the black leather motorbike clothes
and helmet, then mum steps out of the car…mama …mama.
Wow he has grown!" |
